FORT WORTH – TCU track and field freshman Indya Mayberry stole the show at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, running a world-leading 22.41 200m on Friday night.
Mayberry, the nation's leader in the 60m, added the top 200m mark this season to her resume against a stacked field in New Mexico. A freshman racing just the second 200m of her college career, she broke the TCU school record and ran the seventh fastest time in collegiate history.
Kashie Crockett also posted a career-best indoor 200m. The senior ran a 20.61, the fifth fastest time in school history and the eighth fastest in the NCAA this season. Iyana Gray also finished with a strong 23.50 in her 200m, and London Tucker turned in a 23.89 to crack the top 10 list in TCU history.
Elise Dobson's school record Pentathlon highlighted the Horned Frogs' day in College Station. Competing in all five events for the first time this season, the junior put together a complete performance to take down her own record by 20 points with 3,767 total points.
In the 60m hurdles, she ran a personal best 8.78 to finish fifth overall. She kept stacking results with 1.66m (5-5¼) in the high jump, 10.81m (35-5¾) in the shot put, 5.28m (17-4) in the long jump and 2:22.83 in the 800m.
In the field events, Benjamin Kirbo secured a third place finish in the pole vault, clearing 5.23m, and Laila Smith placed sixth in the long jump with a personal best mark of 5.89m (19-4).
Sprinters Justin Frater (60m) and Alleah Krote (60m Hurdles) also advanced to Saturday's semifinals in their events.
