Horned Frogs ready for weekend in Arkansas
FORT WORTH – TCU track and field gears up for another strong weekend of competition at the Tyson Invitational hosted by Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
With over 44 teams in attendance, the Horned Frogs will race among some of the nation's top programs in Fayetteville, including Florida, Illinois, LSU, Ole Miss and the hosts, Arkansas. TCU's sprinters, jumpers and distance athletes will make the trip to the Natural State to represent the Frogs in the two-day meet.
TCU's women moved up one spot in the polls this week and are ranked No. 21 in the USTFCCCA National Track & Field Rating Index, including five different event groups ranked in the top 25. Among those ranked event groups are the 60m, 200m and 400m groups, which are all top 10 in the country, led by reigning Big 12 Track and Field Athlete of the Week Indya Mayberry and senior Iyana Gray. Mayberry is the only woman in the NCAA to lead the nation in two different events (60m and 200m).
On the men's side, Kashie Crockett and Lloyd Frilot lead the charge. The senior duo owns top 25 marks in the country in the 200m and 800m, respectively. TCU also boasts a strong contingency of distance runners in Graydon Morris, Stone Burke and Drew Oliver. One Frog to watch this weekend will be freshman Yannik Knobloch, who is set to make his collegiate debut.
The Frogs are coming off a strong split squad weekend in New Mexico and College Station. TCU saw a combined four school records fall, including a facility record. At the Charlie Thomas Invitational at Texas A&M, Elise Dobson broke her own school record in the Pentathlon, and Tabitha Ngao bested the top mile mark in program history. In Albuquerque, Amari Kiluvia set the TCU 60m hurdles record, and Mayberry ran the best 200m in school history with a world-leading time.
