
Dobson and Kirbo Record Event Wins; Lagat Runs Third Fastest Indoor 5K

FORT WORTH – TCU track and field kicked off its 2025-26 indoor season over the weekend with split squad action at the OU Winter Field Fest and the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.
The Horned Frogs secured a pair of event wins up the road in Norman, Oklahoma. Senior Ben Kirbo secured a victory in the pole vault, clearing 5.30m to lead the field. Teammate Elise Dobson, got her senior year started with a first place finish in the 60m hurdles, posting a time of 9.00.
TCU also saw PR performances from Serina Ramirez (15.56m) and Mia Goicoechea (14.10m) in the weight throw as well as a 5.10m jump for Michael McCloy in the pole vault.
In Boston, Johnson Lagat was the lone competitor for the Frogs, racing among the top distance competition in the country. Fresh off an appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships two weeks ago, he ran the third fastest indoor 5000m time in program history with a 14.10.45.
The Frogs will continue training for the next month before they are back in action at the Corky Classic hosted by Texas Tech on Jan. 16-17, 2026.
