
Scott wins 800m on Day One of Corky Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas – TCU track and field started 2026 off on the right foot on Friday night at the Corky Classic, highlighted by an 800m victory from Georgia Scott and top-three finishes by London Tucker and Ben Kirbo.
Scott secured the lone event win of the night for the Frogs, making her move on the final lap of the 800m to pull away from the competition and win by over a second with a time of 2:07.49.
In the 60m dash, Tucker proved why she is one of the top returning sprinters in the conference. The sophomore won her heat the advance to the semifinal, where she dropped a 7.32 to advance again. In the event final, she ran a blistering 7.27, a career-best time by one hundredth of a second, to finish second overall.
Kirbo took home bronze in the pole vault. The senior cleared 5.33m and passed the next height. However, he unable to get over the bar at 5.53m. It marks his second top-three finish this season in the event.
Amari Kiluvia also had a strong night. She ran the fourth fastest time in prelims in the 60m hurdles. After the semifinals the junior was holding strong in sixth overall before finishing seventh in the event final. Her top time on the night was 8.42.
Tia Williams turned in the 10th fastest time in program history, posting a 54.16 in the 400m to place eighth overall. Senior Ryan Blake also had a PR in the weight throw. He went 16.24m on his first throw, smashing his previous best of 15.61m.
TCU is back in action for day two on Saturday, January 17. Action is slated to begin at 11 a.m. CT.
