Chan, Pedrico and Rolland De Ravel to represent TCU
FORT WORTH – Three Horned Frogs will their shot at delivering TCU its fifth national championship in the last five seasons.
Duncan Chan, Albert Pedrico and Cosme Rolland De Ravel begin play at the NCAA Individual Championships on Tuesday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The six-day affair culminates with the coronation of the 2025 NCAA singles and doubles champions on Sunday.
Chan was awarded the No. 2 overall seed in the 64-man singles bracket. Rolland De Ravel will play both disciplines and partner with Pedrico in doubles.
Singles play gets rolling on Tuesday while doubles commences on Wednesday.
Chan draws Clemson's Romain Gales at 11 a.m. in round one. The junior meets either preseason No. 11 Benito Sanchez Martinez of Mississippi State or Cal's Fryderyk Lechno Wasiutynski in the round of 32 with a victory. Should the bracket go chalk, a showdown with 2024 NCAA singles champion Michael Zheng (Columbia) likely awaits.
Rolland De Ravel's first round assignment is a 2:30 p.m. bout vs. Alex Frusina of Texas A&M. The match pits a pair of preseason top-100 players opposite one another. Frusina was tabbed 34th in the first set of ITA singles rankings while Rolland De Ravel slotted in at No. 81. Both players qualified at the ITA Central Sectional Championships on Nov. 6-9.
Pedrico and Rolland De Ravel, the preseason ITA No. 4 tandem, and draw Tobey Lock and Euan Mackenzie of Delaware on Wednesday in the round of 32.
Chan defeated an NCAA-leading 10 ranked players in the month of September. He is 12-1 in singles play and 18-2 combined for the fall. Chan is competing in the NCAA Singles Championships for the second straight year.
Pedrico and Rolland De Ravel are among the contenders to claim the NCAA doubles crown. They are seeded 5-8 and defeated three ranked pairs at the ITA Central Sectional Championships to solidify their spot. Rolland De Ravel sports a career .830 doubles winning percentage (88-18).
TCU's lone senior, Rolland De Ravel is 7-2 in singles play this fall. He bounced a pair of ranked players in No. 101 Alexandru Chirita (Baylor) and No. 125 Derek Pham (Oklahoma State) at ITA Sectionals on his way to the quarterfinals and an automatic berth.
Singles players who advance to the round of 16 will automatically earn All-American status for the 2025-26 season as will doubles quarterfinalists.
Pedro Vives and Lui Maxted won the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championship to become four-time national champions for TCU. Their triumph followed the Horned Frogs' repeat ITA Indoor National Championships in 2022 and 2023 and NCAA Championship in 2024.
