Pedrico, Rolland De Ravel Qualify for NCAA Individual Championships

TCU will send three players to Orlando for the finale of fall tennis
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – TCU is sending three players to the NCAA Individual Championships for the second consecutive year.
Cosme Rolland De Ravel and Albert Pedrico each punched their tickets over the weekend at the ITA Central Sectional Championships, hosted by University of Michigan at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Rolland De Ravel automatically qualified in singles after advancing to the semifinals
He and Pedrico then qualified as a pair in doubles. The preseason ITA No. 4 tandem, Rolland De Ravel and Pedrico came back from a set down in a third place match vs. the 65th-ranked tandem of Peter Nad and Luis Llorens Sancho, 6-7 (3), 7-5, 1-0 [10-6], to claim the third-and-final berth.
Rolland De Ravel bounced No. 101 Alexandru Chirita of Baylor, 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday in the quarterfinals to punch his ticket.
TCU's lone senior, Rolland De Ravel dropped just one set all tournament. Rolland De Ravel, ranked 81st nationally, gradually overpowered Memphis' Moritz Kudernatsch to the tune of a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory in Thursday's opening round. He then claimed downed No. 125 Derek Pham of Oklahoma State, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, the following day in the round of 16.
Rolland De Ravel, who now sports a 27-9 career fall singles record, will compete in the NCAA Individual Championships for the first time in his career. He played three seasons for Old Dominion before transferring to TCU in May.
The France native joins Duncan Chan as one of two Horned Frogs who will compete in singles.
All three of Rolland De Ravel and Pedrico's victories came against ranked opposition.
Tabbed No. 4 in the preseason ITA doubles rankings, the TCU duo completely outclassed No. 34 Georgi Georgiev and Trevor Svajda (SMU) in round one. Rolland De Ravel and Pedrico secured a triple break in set one and broke the Mustangs' serve early in the second frame on their way to a 6-1, 6-3 win.
Rolland De Ravel and Pedrico then drew No. 19 Jack Anthrop and Preston Stearns of Ohio State in the quarterfinals. The match came down to a 10-point super tiebreaker in set three, with Rolland De Ravel and Pedrico outlasting the Buckeye pair 11-9 to polish off a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 [11-9] triumph.
The performances further cemented Rolland De Ravel's status as one of the nation's doubles aces. He improved to 6-1 vs. ranked pairs this fall and is now 85-17 in doubles for his career. Rolland De Ravel and Chan won the Battle in the Bay Classic doubles championship in September to commence the fall season.
Julian Alonso was the third Horned Frog in action in Ann Arbor. He fell in three sets to No. 60 Connor Henry Van Schalkwyk of Baylor in the first round. Alonso, though, padded his record with a ranked win in the consolation draw, hammering No. 55 Alex Okonkwo (Ohio State) 7-6 (4), 6-3.
The NCAA Individual Championships run from Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
