
Vadovicova, Steelman Earn Big 12 Weekly Honors

Horned Frogs secure second round of awards after second meet of the season
FORT WORTH – Nina Vadovicova and Taylor Steelman of the TCU swimming and diving team brought home Big 12 weekly accolades, the conference announced Thursday.

The two TCU individuals had impressive displays over the two-day competition in Houston, with each earning at least two victories and placing near the top for total points scored out of all swimmers.
For Vadovicova, this is her fourth weekly award of her career and the junior's second this season after being named the Big 12 Swimmer of the Week after the win over Incarnate Word. Steelman has taken home her first conference accolade of her promising career.
Vadovicova swept the breast event this past week against Houston and Rice. She posted times of 28.77 in the 50 breast, 1:00.69 in the 100 breast and 2:12.07 in the 200 breast to win all three events. The Selpice, Slovakia, native posted season-best times in the 50 breast and 100 breast. To round out her weekend, the junior finished third in the 200 medley relay and fourth in the 400 medley relay, posting respective splits of 28.80 and 1:01.11.
After earning the first two event wins of her career against Incarnate Word, Steelman shined on the road against Houston and Rice, securing two victories in the 200 back (1:59.81) and 400 IM (4:22.79) and setting a total of three new personal-best times. The freshman also posted a second-place result in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:04.89.
The Frogs will be back in action tomorrow, as they head to College Station to take on Texas A&M. The meet will start at 2 p.m. and be televised on SEC Network+. Live stats will also be available on MeetMobile.
