Cicanci Selected as Big 12 Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Horned Frog senior captures Big 12 weekly honor
FORT WORTH – After an impressive pair of swims at the Sterkel Classic, Edgar Cicanci of the TCU swimming and diving team has been named the Big 12 Men's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Thursday.
The senior swept the backstroke events at the Sterkel Classic, earning two event wins on the day. The Borgomanero, Italy, native swam a 46.76 in the 100 back and touched the wall in 1:44.46 in the 200 back to secure his two victories. Cicanci was the highest-performing TCU male swimmer at the meet, and he grabbed the most individual wins out of any Frog there.
This marks Cicanci's first Big 12 weekly accolade this season and joins the likes of David Ekdahl, Avery Dillon, Filip Suchanski, Nina Vadovicova, Taylor Steelman, Nicole Christensen, Emma Larcada Herrera, Nigel Forbes, Shea Skarda and Audrey Worgull as individuals who have earned Big 12 weekly honors to date this season.
The last TCU representative to win a conference weekly distinction was Ekdahl, who did so after earning a pair of victories on 1-meter and 3-meter against UT Permian Basin.
Cicanci and the rest of the TCU swimming and diving program are in the process of getting ready for the Big 12 Championships, running from Feb. 24-28 in Greensboro, North Carolina at Greensboro Aquatic Center.
