Frogs go split for weekend of competition
FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU track and field gears up for a split squad weekend of competition, looking to secure more qualifying times for the postseason.
The Horned Frogs are sending a small men's and women's distance squad to Seattle for the UW Invitational. They'll look to compete with some of the top middle distance runners in the country individually and in the DMR.
Coming into the week, the women were ranked No. 16 in the nation in the USTFCCCA's poll. TCU also received top 10 event group rankings in the 60m, 200m and 400m. On the men's side, the Frogs sit fifth in the regional rankings and are looking to crack the top 25 with the No. 9 ranked 800m group and a top 25 200m and 400m squad.
Anastacia Gonzalez, Tabitha Ngao, Georgia Scott and Kelaiah Daniyan will travel for the women. Nago has three event wins through the first two meets this season, including both 800m races. Last weekend, Gonzalez took fifth in the mile, turning in the fifth best performance in school history. Scott also turned in an impressive 800m, and Daniyan boasts a strong 200m and 400m.
For the men, Lloyd Frilot, Ronnie Kendrick, Drew Oliver, Giovouni Henry, Jordan Parker and Mohamed Kowa will travel for the men. Frilot, a senior, is ranked 11th nationally in the 800m this season, with his sights set on taking down the school record.
