FORT WORTH – TCU is 14-1 to begin a season for the second straight year.
The 11th-ranked Horned Frogs rang in the New Year with a gritty 63-50 victory over Colorado on Wednesday in Schollmaier Arena.

TCU held the Buffaloes (10-3, 1-1 Big 12), fresh off a win over then-No. 14 West Virginia in their conference-opener, to a season-low 18 field goals and a 4-14 clip from downtown. The Horned Frogs limited Colorado leading scorers Frida Formann (15.1 ppg) and Lior Garzon (12.8 ppg) to just six points combined, with guards Taylor Bigby, Agnes Emma-Nnopu and Donovyn Hunter taking turns as the primary defenders on the duo. Colorado countered with a 3-pointer of its own, but the 19-17 lead proved to be its final. The Horned Frogs responded with 10 unanswered points spanning four minutes to take control of the contest.
Van Lith and Aaliyah Roberson accounted for eight of TCU's points in that span. Roberson sparked TCU with a game-leading seven points and four rebounds off the bench.
Both teams committed 10 turnovers in the first half and were an identical 9-26 from the field.
TCU scored 23 points in the third quarter to take a 12-point lead into the final period. Emma-Nnopu knocked down two 3-pointers, with her second staking TCU to its largest lead of the night, 50-36, with 56 seconds to go. Prince paced the action, accumulating eight points and five rebounds. The Horned Frogs shot 9-17 in the frame.
Colorado, which erased a 10-point fourth quarter deficit in its most recent win over West Virginia, refused to lose touch. The Buffaloes scored seven straight points to get within five of the Horned Frogs. TCU was held without a field goal for more than four minutes to begin.
Van Lith snapped the scoring drought with a pair of free throws at the 5:48 mark. Bigby swelled TCU's lead to 57-49 via a 3-pointer from the right baseline with 4:30 to play. The Buffaloes never got within two possessions of the Frogs again.
