Horned Frogs to host 12 events; open season on Sept. 12
FORT WORTH – Championship caliber tennis has officially returned to the composite TCU athletics calendar, as TCU men's tennis and head coach David Roditi announced the program's complete 2024-25 schedule.
TCU will take the court 27 times over the course of the regular season, beginning with the Battle in the Bay Classic on Sept. 12-15.
A total of 12 home events adorn the Horned Frogs' schedule. The home slate is highlighted by outdoor matches vs. national runner-up Texas and 2024 NCAA tournament participants Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Oklahoma State and SMU. TCU will also host ITA Kickoff Weekend in January and conclude the indoor regular season with a home dual vs. traditional power Florida.
Fall
The Horned Frogs have seven fall invitationals on the docket beginning with their annual visit to the Bay Area.
TCU is competing in the San Francisco-based Battle in the Bay Classic for the seventh consecutive season. Both the singles and doubles champions in the 64-player field receive a wild card onto a series of ATP Challenger or Futures tournaments along the west coast.
The Horned Frogs will then travel between 3-5 athletes to the ITA All-American Championships, held from Sept. 21-29 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Overlapping with the trek north along Interstate-35 is a trip to Torreon, Mexico, for the second annual US College Cup Invitational. The three-day event was incepted by Roditi in 2023 with the goal of increasing youth participation in the sport and international interest in the college game. The tournament utilizes hidden dual play in singles and doubles.
The expanded fall schedule is a byproduct of a two-year pilot program between the NCAA and ITA to hold the NCAA Individual Championships at the conclusion of the fall season. The 64-man singles field and 32-team doubles bracket will be determined by four championship events.
The road to the NCAA Championships starts with the ITA All-American Championships and continues on Oct. 17-22 in Waco for the ITA Texas Regional. TCU will then host one of four ITA Sectional Championships on Nov. 7-10. In conjunction with Sectionals is the ITA Conference Masters Championships, previously known as the ITA National Fall Championships, in San Diego, Calif.
The NCAA Individual Championships take place from Nov. 19-24 in Waco.
Indoor
TCU opens the dual season for the third consecutive year vs. Abilene Christian on Jan. 10. The Horned Frogs host ITA Kickoff Weekend from Jan. 25-26, with Michigan State, Liberty and Pacific visiting Fort Worth. A Feb. 9 battle vs. Florida concludes TCU's indoor home slate.
The Horned Frogs visit Stanford, Baylor and Texas in the leadup to the ITA Indoor National Championships.
Indoor Nationals run from Feb. 14-17 across two locations. The opening rounds take place at Baylor and SMU. The Mustangs' Styslinger-Altec Tennis Complex is the site for the semifinals and final.
Outdoor
TCU has six outdoor duals on the docket, beginning with return trips from Pepperdine (Feb. 23) and Texas (March 11).
The Horned Frogs will play a program record eight Big 12 matches this year with the conference's expansion to 16 members. TCU's first pair of home conference duals are against newcomers Arizona and Arizona State on March 21-23. The Horned Frogs compete thrice at home in April, beginning with a league tilt vs. Oklahoma State (April 3). The regular season concludes with consecutive home matches opposite rivals SMU and Baylor on April 9 and April 13, respectively.
Baylor hosts both the Big 12 Championship (April 16-20) and NCAA D1 Men's Tennis Championship (May 15-18).
