
Horned Frogs Finish Ninth at Valero Texas Collegiate

Roden leads TCU in second-straight tournament
SAN ANTONIO – TCU finished in ninth place on Monday at the Valero Texas Collegiate at TPC San Antonio.
The Horned Frogs began the day in fifth place but shot 4-over 292 and were passed by Georgia, SMU, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. TCU finished 5-under 859.
No. 3-ranked Oklahoma won the tournament at 30-under par and Ben James of Virginia defeated Josiah Gilbert of Auburn in a one-hole playoff to earn an exemption into the 2025 Valero Texas Open.
Newcomer Scott Roden led TCU for the second-straight tournament with a score of 3-under 213 and finished in a tie for 17th. Roden made five birdies and shot even-par 72 on Monday.
Jack Beauchamp, which began the day in sixth place, was 4-over 76 in the final round and dropped to a tie for 24th place at 1-under 215.
Joe Pagdin and Toby Wilt each shot 2-over 74. Pagdin was 1-over 217 for a tie for 35th place and Wilt was 2-over 218 and tied for 44th place.
Freshman Charlie Wylie had his best round as a Horned Frog. An eagle on the No. 17 par 4 brought him to 2-under 34 for the back nine and even-par 72 for the day.
TCU will return to action when it hosts the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, Sept. 30 – Oct. 1 at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Monday's first round will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Admission and parking are free.
