TCU begins the final round at 9:30 a.m. on hole No. 10
FORT WORTH – Jack Beauchamp led the TCU men's golf team in the opening day of the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational on Monday.
Ideal golf conditions with no wind surrounded Colonial Country Club for 36 holes. Still, the PGA Tour course was a headache, with challenging pin locations for both rounds. Only four teams and and 10 individuals finished below par.
After an opening round 3-over 73 in the first round, Beauchamp made birdie on his first and his final hole of the second round to shoot even-par 70. He is tied for 24th place at 3-over 143.
Scott Roden shot 4-over 74 in both rounds and tied for 58th place at 8-over 148.
Charlie Wylie had an opening round of 3-under 73. The freshman finished 10-over 150 for the day and tied for 66th. Ethan Dial was one shot back of Wylie at 11-over 151.
TCU is in 15th place at 31-over par. Oklahoma leads the loaded field at 9-under with Texas two shots back. North Carolina's David Ford and Texas' Daniel Bennett are tied for first at 6-under 134.
The final round of the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The Horned Frogs will begin the final round at 9:30 a.m. on hole No. 10.
