FORT WORTH – TCU Women's Triathlon travels to their second race of the season this weekend, heading to Beaver Falls, Pa. to compete in the Beaver County Tri Cup.
The race will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14 with a 6:30 a.m. CT scheduled start time, hosted by Duquesne. Including the Horned Frogs, the field features ten teams from across the country with Delaware State, Gallaudet, Lenoir Rhyne, Navy, North Central, Roberts Wesleyan, UIndy, and Wagner College all participating.
Six Frogs are traveling east; Amanda Moro, Sara Gimena, Jenna Buchanan, Maddie Perkins, Elena Viejo, and Hannah Ye. Perkins, a graduate transfer from the University of San Francisco, will look to make her TCU debut this weekend.
The Horned Frogs opened up their 2024 season on August 31 with a win at the Southern Hills Triathlon in Hot Springs, S.D., hosted by Black Hills State. Annabella Veltcheva led the way with a time of 33:11, placing in seventh individually.
TCU tallied 203 points as a team, just nearly beating Denver who scored 202 points. South Dakota ended with 199 points, Arizona had 183 points, Colorado Mesa had 126 points, and Black Hills State tallied 91 points.
The Frogs will return to Fort Worth for their second annual home race, the Battle in the Fort, on Sept. 29. All 14 athletes are participating in this event which features seven of the top programs in the country.
