FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team ended the 2024 spring semester with an impressive 3.42 GPA. In addition, five student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team for the spring.
To qualify for Academic All-Big 12, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their sports contests. To earn first team, student-athletes must have a GPA a 3.20 or higher. For second team, they must obtain a 3.00-3.19 GPA.
The first team included senior Destinee Martins, junior Helena Narmont, junior Jade Otway, and sophomore Yu-Chin Tsai. Senior Isabel Pascual earned second team accolades.
"I'm proud of the ladies and their overall attitude and perspective toward their academics," said Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker. "They realize the incredible opportunity they have to learn and grow at TCU with other elite students and faculty. Dana Blount does an amazing job organizing their programs and providing resources for their development as our lead academic director for tennis. She and the ladies deserve all the credit."
A total of 66 women's tennis student-athletes across the Big-12 earned distinctions with BYU women's tennis leading the conference with nine honorees.
