
Frimodt Wins Big 12 Co-Championship

TCU senior became the third Big 12 Champion in program history
TRINITY, Texas – Gustav Frimodt played a masterful second nine holes of golf to finish tied for first and be named Big 12 Co-Champion Wednesday under perfect conditions at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
The Glamsbjerg, Denmark native shot 9-under 279 for the championship, as did Cincinnati's Ty Gingerich and Oklahoma State's Preston Stout. Part of the last group to finish, Stout made a long birdie putt on No. 18 to be named a co-champion. Gingerich held a two-stroke lead on the field entering the day.
After playing the first nine at even-par, Frimodt made up work on the second nine. A bogey-less second nine included four birdies, three of which came on the final four holes to finish 4-under 68 for the round. It was his 11th sub 70 round of the season and 20th played at par or better. The senior finished with a championship-best 22 birdies for the week.
Frimodt became the third Horned Frog to be named Big 12 Champion, joining Julien Brun (2014) and Hayden Springer (2019). Frimodt also earns a spot on the Big 12 All-Tournament Team.
Toby Wilt finished tied for 39th place with a score of 7-over 295. His 2-under 70 for the final round was his best of the championship.
Andrew Petruzzelli finished 63rd with a score of 24-over 312.
As a team, TCU had its best round of the championship on Wednesday with a score of 5-over 293. The Horned Frogs finished in 14th placer at 53-over 1,205. Texas (-25) won the event with Oklahoma (-7) finishing as runner-up.
