TCU fires a five-under 283 in final round
TUCSON, Ariz. – With TCU looking to boost its NCAA Regional prospects, Sofia Barroso Sa delivered.
The sophomore tied for eighth in an 81-player field at the MountainView Collegiate, turning in a four-under 212 on the grounds of The Preserve Golf Club.
Barroso Sa was minus-four over the final two rounds of the 54-hole affair. She shot a 69 on Sunday's final round.
The Portugal native tied for the third-highest finish among Big 12 players in a 15-team field that included, Houston, Iowa State and host Kansas State.
Barroso Sa jumped 32 spots in the Scoreboard individual rankings with her showing.
As a team, TCU placed ninth outright at plus-seven (871).
The Horned Frogs fired off a five-under 283 in the final round.
Lois Lau matched Barroso Sa's Sunday scorecard, ascending 14 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 17th. She finished the tournament at one-under (215). Lau has now been even or under-par in 20 of 24 rounds in 2023-24. She turned in an even-par 72 on Saturday. TCU's lone senior, Lau boasts an aggregate score of minus-33 this season.
Meagan Winans and Kirstin Angosta tied for 45th after finishing plus six (222). Winans, one of three players to start all eight of TCU's tournaments, was even-par over her final 18 holes.
Sheridan Clancy tied for 73rd (+17, 233) to cap TCU's showing.
