
Barroso Sa Leads TCU on Day One of MountainView Collegiate

Is tied for 15th at even-par and five strokes off the lead
TUCSON, Ariz. – One day after celebrating her 20th birthday, Sofia Barroso Sa kept the party rolling on Friday.
The sophomore is tied for 15th following the first round of the MountainView Collegiate after shooting an even-par 72.
Barroso Sa finished fourth in par-5 scoring (4.50) on day one of the 54-hole affair, held at The Preserve Golf Club. She was one of four players to card an eagle.
Originally from Belmonte, Portugal, Barroso Sa is tied for fifth among all Big 12 players in a 15-team field featuring No. 33 Houston, No. 47 Iowa State and No. 58 Kansas State. She is three shots back of UNLV's Toa Yokoyama for fifth and trails the leader, Melanie Green of South Florida, by five strokes.
Collectively, TCU is in sole possession of eighth place. The Horned Frogs finished plus-eight (296).
Lois Lau and Meagan Winans are tied for 29th at two-over. Lau finished par-or-better on a team-leading 15 holes. Winans played even-par golf over the first 10 holes.
Sheridan Clancy and Kirstin Angosta enter Saturday's second round tied for 54th and 67th, respectively, with scores of plus-four (76) and plus-six (78). Angosta accounted for a team-high four of TCU's 12 birdies. The freshman has tallied 32 birdies over four spring tournaments and trails only Lau (33) in the category. Clancy completed the back-9 one-over.
TCU will tee off on the first hole in nine-minute intervals between 8:45-10:50 a.m. on Saturday. The final round commences with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
