Peavy records second-career double-double

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – TCU's run in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship came to an end on Thursday with a 60-45 loss to top-ranked Houston in the quarterfinals.

The nation's best defensive team showed why at T-Mobile Center as the Cougars (29-3) held the Horned Frogs (21-12) to 23.3 percent shooting and its least productive offensive performance of the season.

Trailing 31-15 at the half, TCU outscored Houston in the second half, 30-29, as the Frogs had their best rebounding effort of the season. TCU outrebounded UH, 55-39, including 30 offensive boards, which were the most in 25 seasons. However, those translated to just 17 second chance points as shots just didn't fall for the Frogs.

Micah Peavy recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. He scored TCU's first points of the game at the 10:32 mark after trailing 16-0.

Chuck O'Bannon Jr. and JaKobe Coles each had seven points and seven rebounds.

The Horned Frogs will find out where they are playing in the postseason on Sunday.

TCU moved to 26-49 all-time against Houston.
The Frogs fell to 3-3 in neutral site games this season.
TCU dropped to 8-12 all-time at the Big 12 Championship and 6-8 under Jamie Dixon.
TCU's 55 rebounds were its most since bringing down 55 against Texas A&M Commerce on Jan. 1 of this season. It was the most Houston has allowed in a game since Dec. 19, 2009 when Mississippi State had 59.
TCU's 30 offensive rebounds were its most since Dec. 12, 1998 when it had 30 against Central Oklahoma.
It was the most offensive rebounds Houston has allowed in a game since at least the 1996-97 season.
The 30 offensive rebounds were the second most by any team this season. Saint Mary's had 33 against UNLV on Dec. 16.
It was the most offensive rebounds in a game against a No. 1 ranked team since at least the 1996-97 season.
TCU outrebounded Houston, 55-39. It was the first time TCU outrebounded a team by 15 or more since Dec. 21, 2023 when the Frogs outrebounded Old Dominion, 44-22.
The Horned Frogs outscored the Cougars in the second half, 30-29.

Individual Notes

Micah Peavy finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and of his career. His rebounding total was his second-highest total this season.
Chuck O'Bannon Jr. made one 3-pointer. It was his fifth-straight game with a made three.
Avery Anderson III had a team-best three steals.
Emanuel Miller scored three points, snapping his consecutive double-digit scoring streak at 20. He got injured late in the first half, but managed to play in the second.
