FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team swept the Incarnate Word Cardinals 7-0 Sunday afternoon at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU claimed the doubles point with two consecutive wins before posting a 6-0 mark in singles play for the second time this season on the purple courts.
"We've had a great two weeks of practice since being back from Kickoff Weekend," coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "Team really looked focused and fresh and dominant today. I'm proud of their professionalism and being locked in start to finish today."
THE RUNDOWN
In doubles, the duo of Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual earned its first win of the season finishing first over Ine Lamprecht and Isid Hernandez Leon 6-1 on court two. Chiho Mushika and Yu-Chin Tsai advanced to 2-1 as a pair clinching the doubles point for the Horned Frogs 6-3 on court one.
In singles, all six Frogs took down their opponents in straight sets for the second time this season. Mushika was quick to finish first on court five earning her first double bagel of the season over McKenzy Byfield. Margaret Polk tallied her first singles win of the season over Jordyn Isaak without dropping a game (6-0, 6-0).
Otway stays perfect in singles (3-0) with a straight set win over Sofia Franco Salcedo 6-2, 6-2. Tsai earned her third win of the season and first on court three with a 6-2, 6-0 finish. Pascual advanced to 2-2 on court one this season winning 6-3, 6-2 over Hernandez. On court four, Narmont advanced to 2-0 this season winning 6-2, 6-2 over Ine Lamprecht.
