Preview: Samford

FORT WORTH – TCU hosts Samford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in its penultimate nonconference affair.

The midweek matchup is all that separates the 12^th-ranked Horned Frogs from Big 12 play. TCU travels to UCF on Saturday for its conference-opener.

The Horned Frogs have won 11 straight games inside Schollmaier Arena dating back to February.

TCU's latest feature in the AP Top 25 marks the first time the Horned Frogs have boasted a top 20 ranking in five straight polls. The Frogs have now earned five AP Top 25 rankings in a season for just the third time in the program's 48-year existence.
The Horned Frogs' No. 12 AP Top 25 ranking is the second highest in program history.
The Frogs lead the country in games with at least 12 three-pointers (six). TCU shot 12-31 from downtown in Sunday's 92-41 win against LA Tech.
TCU has drained a dozen or more 3-pointers in 15 games since 2023-24, which are the third-most of any D1 program.
TCU has prevented its opponent from scoring 46-or-more points an NCAA high seven times this year.
TCU has held visiting to less than 20 points in seven of its 16 completed halves at home.

Conner is third in the country in 3-pointers (40) and 3-pointers per game (3.6). She has made at least three 3-pointers in eight of her last 10 games and on 25 of 38 occasions in her TCU tenure.
Conner is the nation's best volume 3-point shooter. Her 3-point percentage (.430) ranks third nationally among players with at least 80 attempts from deep. She is one of 10 players averaging at least three 3-pointers per game while shooting 42.5 percent or better behind the arc.
Conner became the third player on TCU's roster to join the 1,000-point club on Sunday.
Agnes Emma-Nnopu led all players in rebounds (10), assists (five) and steals (five) in Sunday's win. She reached double digits on the glass for the sixth time and set a career high in assists and steals.
Taylor Bigby has scored at least eight points in eight of her 11 outings as a Horned Frog and in five consecutive games.

Series Notes: Samford

Not only have TCU and Samford never collided on the hardwood, the Horned Frogs have yet to face an active member of the Southern Conference.
Tuesday's tilt is only the second time TCU and Samford have squared off in any sport. The lone all-time athletic contest between the Horned Frogs and Bulldogs took place on Feb. 12, 2021, when TCU women's tennis traveled to Birmingham for a dual. The Horned Frogs won the match 6-1.
Of the 14 players on the Horned Frogs' roster, only Maddie Scherr has encountered Samford at a previous stop in her college career. Scherr helped lead Kentucky to a 72-59 home victory against the Bulldogs on Dec. 31, 2023, in her second and final season in Lexington. She netted 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Versus the state of Alabama, TCU women's basketball holds a 4-2 all-time record. The Horned Frogs have split a pair of nonleague affairs vs. Alabama and Auburn and hold a victory apiece over Sun Belt foes South Alabama and Troy. Both of TCU's victories over the Crimson Tide and Tigers took place during the now-defunct Big 12/SEC Challenge.
Samford represents the third of four opponents on TCU's 2024-25 schedule the Horned Frogs have not previously played. TCU defeated Idaho State and Florida Atlantic in their first-ever meetings on Nov. 24 and Dec. 4, respectively. The Horned Frogs close out nonconference play with their first all-time matchup with Brown on Dec. 29.
The Horned Frogs have tangled with one member of Samford's roster, junior guard Sierra Godbolt, who was a member of a 2023-24 UCF squad TCU defeated, 66-60, on Jan. 23 in Schollmaier Arena.
