Williams tops TCU in rushing and receiving and throws a TD pass
WACO, Texas -- TCU tied the game with under 2 minutes to play but fell to Baylor, 37-34, when Isaiah Hankins made a 33-yard field goal as time expired Saturday night at McLane Stadium.
The Horned Frogs had won four straight and eight of nine against the Bears.
Trailing 34-27 with 4:54 left, Josh Hoover led an 8-play, 75-yard drive to tie the game on a 18-yard pass to Jack Bech with 1:55 remaining. A key play on the drive was a 17-yard completion to Savion Williams on a 4th-and-3 at the Baylor 41.
Williams' 6-yard touchdown pass to Bech on a 4th-and-2 gave the Horned Frogs a 27-20 lead with 23 seconds left in the third quarter.
Williams led TCU with eight receptions for 92 yards while topping the team in rushing for the third straight week with 57 yards on eight carries.
Hoover completed 25-of-34 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. His 1-yard sneak with 50 seconds left in the second quarter gave the Horned Frogs a 17-13 lead at the half. The score was set up two plays earlier by a 16-yard completion from Hoover to Jeremy Payne to the Baylor 1.
