
Frimodt Qualifies for U.S. Amateur

FORT WORTH – With a World Amateur Golf Ranking of 35, TCU senior Gustav Frimodt has qualified for the 2023 U.S. Amateur, to be held at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo., Aug. 14-20.
The top 50 of the WAGR automatically qualify for the U.S. Amateur.
Frimodt is the first TCU men's golfer to qualify for the U.S. Amateur since Mateo Ferández de Oliveira fell in the round of 16 at the 202 U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.
From Glamsberg, Denmark, Frimodt earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Big 12 Championship last season after finishing ninth. He had a team-best stroke average of 71.21 and was -0.07 vs. par, the ninth0best inprogram history. He had five top 10 finishes including medalist honors at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, a field that included 15 of the top 30 ranked amateurs in the world. At Colonial Country Club, he shot 8-under 202 and included a final round of 65.
Frimodt is coming off a quarterfinal appearance in match play at the Western Amateur where he finished fifth in stroke play. Earlier in the summer he finished third at the North and South Amateur Championship.
