Fontenelle and Nunez homer for TCU

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – TCU dropped the series finale at West Virginia by a 17-7 score in seven innings Sunday afternoon. Cole Fontenelle and Elijah Nunez homered for the Horned Frogs.

The Rundown
A bases-loaded error got the Mountaineers on the board in the second. They added to the lead with a walk to open up a 2-0 advantage.

The Horned Frogs cut the deficit in half in the third. Anthony Silva walked to open the inning and moved to third on a base hit from Elijah Nunez. Tre Richardson singled up the middle to make it a 2-1 ballgame.

The Mountaineers got the run back in the bottom of the inning. Eight more crossed the plate in the fourth as West Virginia opened up an 11-1 lead.

TCU crept back into the game, pulling within four, 11-7. Two walks around a base hit loaded the bases in the fifth. Cole Fontenelle's 10^th home run of the season snuck over the left field fence for a grand slam. A lead-off walk to Silva in the sixth was followed by a Nunez home run.

Another big inning for West Virginia helped the Mountaineers restore the 10-run lead, bringing the game to an end.

Ben Abeldt (1-3) started for the Horned Frogs. He allowed five runs on five hits, walked three and struck out four in three innings of work. Garrett Wright turned in 2 1/3 solid innings of work, allowing a hit, a walk and striking out four.
