
TCU’s Win Streak Snapped Friday

The Rundown
After falling behind 2-0 in the first two innings, TCU battled back to take a 3-2 lead in the second. Cole Fontenelle and Karson Bowen executed a double steal. An errant throw allowed Fontenelle to score to make it a 2-1 game. An Austin Davis sacrifice fly tied the game. Three straight two out walks had the Frogs in front as Tre Richardson worked the bases-loaded free pass.
Another Fontenelle stolen base and errant throw helped the lead grow to two, 4-2, as he scored on an Anthony Silva sacrifice fly.
Three straight Seahawks reached to open the fifth and all three scored as UNC Wilmington ultimately struck for four runs in the inning to open up a 6-4 lead. The Seahawks broke the game open in the eighth as they sent 10 men to the plate and scored seven two out runs to make it a 13-4 ballgame.
TCU got two runs back in the eighth on an Elijah Nunez double and a Richardson groundout to make it a 13-6 ballgame. UNC Wilmington picked up another two out run in the ninth to account for the final score.
Ryan Vanderhei (3-3) started and allowed five runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out one.
