Three Sophomores Ready for the NCAA Championships

Wuilliez, Ekdahl and Hubbard to Compete in Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.: Three Horned Frogs are headed to the NCAA men's swimming and diving championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota from March 22-March 25.
David Ekdahl and Alec Hubbard are primed for their second NCAA National Championships in as many years. Jadon Wuilliez is headed to his first National Championship of his young career. Ekdahl will compete for the Horned Frogs on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, Hubbard will dive on platform and Wuilliez will swim in the 100 breaststroke.

Prelims 10 a.m. | Finals: 6 p.m.
Friday, March 25:
100 breaststroke , 3-meter dive
Prelims 10 a.m. | Finals 6 p.m.
Saturday, March 26 Platform:
Prelim 10 a.m. | Finals 6 p.m.
David Ekdahl qualified for the NCAA Championships for his performance at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships. Ekdahl finished in fourth place during the finals on the 1-meter with a score of 709.20. Due to his qualification in the 1-meter, his 11th place finish in the 3-meter also granted the sophomore the ability to compete in both springboard events. The 2022 Sweedish Male Diver of the Year will be one of 50 divers competing on the 1-meter and he will compete as one of 52 divers for the 3-meter crown.
Hubbard will join Ekdahl for back-to-back appearances at the men's NCAA National Championships. The sophomore finished in seventh place in the preliminaries which advanced him to the finals. He needed to move up two spots to punch his ticket to Minnesota. At the event's conclusion, Hubbard was slotted in fifth place with a score of 728.55.
Wuilliez currently holds the 20th best time in the nation (51.70) after his second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke at the Big 12 Championships. The sophomore finished less than a tenth of second from the gold medal. His time earned him a NCAA B-cut and the TCU record in the event.
