Frimodt finishes second overall with a career-best
PHOENIX – TCU shot 17-under 835 to win the GCU Invitational Tuesday at GCU Golf Course in Phoenix.
The Horned Frogs edged out North Dakota State (-16) and a Grand Canyon (-16) team that shot 12-under on the day to win their first tournament in two seasons.
Gustav Frimodt began the day trailing NDSU's Nate Adams by one stroke. Frimodt shot 2-under 69 with five birdies and one eagle. Adams did one better, finishing 3-under 68 to take the title. Only Adams and Frimodt shot sub-70 in all three rounds.
Frimodt finished with a career-best score vs. par of 11-under 202. The second-place finish was his third top 10 finish in six tournaments this season.
Maxence Giboudot had his best collegiate finish. The freshman placed eighth at 5-under 208 following Tuesday's round of even-par 71. He finished at par or better in all three rounds.
Jacob Skov Olesen earned his third top 20 finish of the season with a score of even-par 213. Olesen posted a score of 2-over 73 in the final round.
Chris Berzina and Aymeric Laussot finished tied for 38th place at 4-over 217.
The Horned Frogs will next be in action March 26-27 at the Seahawk Intercollegiate held at Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
