Ekdahl wins the 1-meter, Five School Records Fall
AUSTIN, TEXAS: TCU Swim and Dive collected some hardware in day one of the Big 12 Championships, setting all-time program highs in the process.
David Ekdahl took home the gold on the 1-meter boards. Ekdahl dove for an incredible score of 419.80 breaking his own school record from earlier this season. The sophomore is now a back-to-back Big 12 1-meter champion. He is the only Frog to win the Big 12 Championship in the 1-meter.
Trailing just behind Ekdahl was the graduate transfer, Max Burman. He finished in third place with a score of 389.55. He was not the only Horned Frog diver to set new school records on the day. Anna Kwong set the new record on the 1-meter. In the finals, she dove for a score of 348.90 for a silver medal.
Three relay teams set new program records with all-time marks. In the 200-medley relay, the men's team of Edgar Cicanci, Jadon Wuilliez, Piotr Sadlowski and Raphael Paiva Da Lima placed second overall setting a new record of 1:25.63. On the women's side, Rylee Moore, Claire Chahbandour, Jeanne Dahmen and Olivia Rhodes stand alone at the top of the TCU program with a time of 1:38.62.
The men's 800 freestyle relay team of Geremia Freri, Milan Fabian, Kornel Kohalmi and Luke Dimiceli set the TCU record with their time of 6:23.85.
