The Horned Frogs fall on Big Monday
FORT WORTH - In a Big Monday Top 25 showdown, No. 24 TCU fell to No. 3 Kansas, 63-58 in front of 7,831 at Schollmaier Arena.
Mike Miles Jr. led TCU with 13 points. JaKobe Coles has 12 points and Damion Baugh finished with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
It was a defensive battle as TCU shot season-low 30.3 percent and held KU to 39.4 percent from the field.
TCU (18-10, 7-8) led briefly in the first half and as many as four points, 25-21, after a three by Coles, with 4:43 to play. Kansas (23-5, 11-4) closed the half on a 12-4 run to lead 33-29 at halftime.
The Horned Frogs never took the lead in the second half, but trailed by two points, 60-58, with 1:44 to play. Neither team made a field goal in the final four minutes and 19 seconds of the game and TCU made just one of 10 shots to close out the game.
Baugh got off a potential game-tying 3-pointer with five second on the clock, but his well-guarded shot was off target.
KU was led by freshman Gradey Dick, who had 14 of his game-high 19 in the first half behind three 3-pointers.
TCU will next play at Texas Tech on Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.
