Frogs record the third-best shooting percentage in program history

FORT WORTH - The third-best shooting performance in program history and a return of Mike Miles Jr. lifted No. 22 TCU to a 100-75 win over Oklahoma State Saturday in Schollmaier Arena.

The Horned Frogs (18-9, 7-7) had the Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year back in the lineup after missing five games with a right knee injury. Miles played 35 minutes and scored 15 points as the Frogs won their sixth-straight game in Fort Worth over the Cowboys (16-11, 7-7).

Damion Baugh recorded his third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 assists. Emanuel Miller led the Frogs with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and had five assists. Shahada Wells shot 6-of-9 from the field and scored 15 points. Micah Peavy added 10 points and was 2-of-3 from 3-point range.

TCU poured on the offense early and often shooting 68.4 percent from the field. That number was .2 shy of the record for a Big 12 Conference game, which was set by Oklahoma State in 1998.

After a back-and-forth start, the Frogs went on a 10-0 run with close to five minutes left in the first half. TCU ultimately took the lead with 10:24 left in the first half and kept it for the remainder of the game.

TCU went into halftime with a 47-27 lead on 65.4 percent shooting with the help of a 5-of-8 effort from 3-point range.

The Horned Frogs did even better in the second half, shooting 71 percent from the field. TCU continued to get layups and plenty of the points inside, outscoring OSU 50-20 in the paint. The Frogs finished with 28 points on 39 made baskets and snapped a four-game losing skid.

TCU hosts No. 5 Kansas on Monday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Team Notes

TCU moved to 13-29 all time against Oklahoma State, 8-9 in Fort Worth.
Dixon improved to 12-8 all-time against OSU.
TCU has won six straight meetings against OSU in Fort Worth and eight of the last nine.

The Horned Frogs scored 100 points for the second time this season (Central Arkansas, 103).
The 100 points by TCU was its most-ever in a Big 12 Conference game.
The Frogs shot 68.4 percent from the field, the best shooting percentage in a Big 12 Conference game in 25 years. Closely trailing the all-time record of 68.6 percent of Oklahoma State against Texas A&M in 1998.
The 68.4 percent shooting was the third-best in TCU history. The top two marks also involved Jamie Dixon. TCU shot 69.9 percent against Howard Payne on Nov. 26, 1985 and shot 69.1 percent against Oklahoma State on Dec. 26, 1986 when Dixon played at TCU.
TCU had 53 points in the second half, the most since December 28, 2022 against Central Arkansas.
TCU forced 17 turnovers, one short of Oklahoma State's season-high of 18.
TCU was 8-of-15 for 53.3 percent from 3-point range, matching a season-high (at Kansas).
The Frogs outrebounded the Cowboys 33-21. TCU improved to 12-2 this season and 112-36 under Dixon when outrebounding its opponent.
TCU tied a season-high with 28 assists (UCA). It tied for the fifth most by a team in the Dixon era and was the second-most in a Big 12 game in the Dixon era (29, ISU, Jan. 17, 2018).
Six Horned Frogs reach double-digit scoring, the most players in double-digits for the second time this season. Miller led with 18, Miles had 15, Baugh and O'Bannon had 16, Wells scored 15 and Peavy had 10.
The Frogs had their 15th different starting lineup this season comprised of Mike Miles, Eddie Lampkin, Emanuel Miller, Damion Baugh and Micah Peavy. It is still the most among teams in major conferences.
TCU shot a combined 53.3 percent from three. That percentage tied its season-high (Kansas).

Individual Notes

Mike Miles played for the first time in four games. He scored 15 points, his 18th game this season in double-digits out of 19 played.
Miles' 15 points moved him to 21st in career scoring at TCU with 1,155, surpassing JD Miller's 1,153.
Micah Peavy scored 10 points, his 10th game this season in double-digits.
Peavy was 2-of-3 from 3-point range. The two 3-pointers ties a career-high. It was his fourth-straight game with a made 3-pointer, the longest streak of his career.
JaKobe Coles had six points on 2-of-2 shooting from the field and 1-of-1 from 3-point range. He's had a 3-pointer in four of the last five games.
Damion Baugh recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists, his third double-double this season.
The 11 assists by Baugh were a season-high and his 10th-straight game leading in assists. It was the 18th time this season leading the team in that category out of 21 games played.
Emanuel Miller had a team-best five rebounds, his eighth time this season leading the team in that category.
Miller's 18 points was his 18th game this season with double-digit points and most since Kansas State earlier this season on Jan. 14.
