
Peavy Triple-Double Leads Frogs over Sun Devils

FORT WORTH – Senior guard Micah Peavy recorded the third triple-double in TCU men's basketball history on Saturday to lead the Horned Frogs to a 79-59 win over Arizona State in the USLBM Coast to Coast Challenge at Dickies Arena.
The same day he earned his degree in general studies, the Cibolo, Texas native joined Kurt Thomas and Kenrich Williams as the only Horned Frogs to record a triple-double. Peavy recorded 13 points, a career-high 12 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists with the final assist coming in the games' final two minutes on a dish to Essam Mostafa.
The finish by TCU (8-1) was a vast turnaround from a start that had the Horned Frogs down by as many as 14 points with 10 minutes to play in the first half. TCU held Arizona State (6-4) to zero field goals in the final seven minutes to trail by just four points at halftime, 30-26.
The Frogs continued their momentum from the first half as a 3-pointer by Jameer Nelson Jr. put TCU up 31-30, its first lead of the game since 4-3. A 16-0 run pushed the advantage to 53-38 with 11:21 to play.
In the midst of the 16 unanswered points was a seven-point possession. Following two technical fouls on Arizona State, Emanuel Miller, who led the Frogs with 18 points, made all four free throw attempts. Peavy then hit his only 3-pointer of the night to turn a 1-point deficit to a 6-point advantage within 18 seconds.
TCU shot 55.9 percent from the field in the second half, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range, to outscore ASU, 53-29, in the period.
The Horned Frogs will next play in the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii against Old Dominion on Thursday at noon CT on ESPNU.

- He is the first to record a triple-double since Kenrich Williams had 11 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists against Richmond on March 21, 2017. Kurt Thomas was the first TCU player to record a triple-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 11 blocks at Texas A&M on Feb. 25, 1995.
- It was Peavy's eighth game scoring in double figures.
- Emanuel Miller finished with a team-high 18 points. It was the fifth time this season he led the team in scoring. He scored in double-figures for the eighth-straight game and added six rebounds and a team-best three steals.
- Jameer Nelson Jr. scored 11 points on a season-best three made 3-pointers on four attempts.
- Trevian Tennyson scored eight points on 2-of-3 shooting from 3-point range. He has made at least one 3-pointer in all but two games this season.
