
TCU Falls to No. 16 BYU

FORT WORTH – The Horned Frogs fell in three sets to No. 16 BYU on Saturday afternoon in Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.
Audrey Nalls led TCU with 17 kills and 10 digs for her 10th double-double of the season.
The Rundown
Trailing by as many as eight points in the first set, the Horned Frogs' offense began to shine. Melanie Parra's first ace of the night cut the deficit to force a BYU timeout at 19-15 and back-to-back aces from Lily Nicholson made it a 23-20 contest. TCU pulled within two on a kill from Audrey Nalls, and a monster swing from Parra made it a one-point set at 24-23 before the Frogs fell 25-23 in the set.
TCU started out strong in the second set. Tied at 8-8, kills from Nalls and Nicholson made it 11-8. The Cougars went on a run of their own and tied the set at 13-13, and both teams battled throughout the rest of the set to keep the score close. A kill from Parra made it a 21-21 contest and Gibson's seventh and final kill of the set made it 22-22 before BYU went on a 3-0 scoring run to end the second set.
The Horned Frogs jumped out to an early lead in the third set, and a solo block from Parra forced a BYU timeout with TCU in the lead, 6-2. The Cougars responded with a 5-0 run of their own, but a Parra kill tied the set 7-7. Parra's second ace of the night gave TCU the 8-7 advantage, a lead that would continue until BYU tied the set at 14-all.
Brianna Green's fourth kill of the match pulled TCU within two points to make it a 19-17 match before BYU won the third and final set, 25-20.
Audrey Nalls (17), Jalyn Gibson (12) and Melanie Parra (11) all tallied double-digit kills in the loss.
