Horned Frogs to compete at historic Medinah Country Club from Oct. 9-10
FORT WORTH – For two days, one of the grandest golf stages in the world belongs to the Horned Frogs.
TCU is set to compete in the Illini Invitational at the renowned Medinah Country Club from Oct. 9-10, just outside of Chicago. The 54-hole affair is the team's penultimate fall tournament.
"We have had an invested and focused two weeks of practice and preparation," said head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin. "We love this tournament and are so honored to compete at such a historic site. We are ready to dive into our process and play with fire!"
Medinah Country Club is among the most exclusive private country clubs in the United States. The venue has played host to five men's major golf championships, including the 1999 and 2006 PGA Championships, and 2012 Ryder Cup.
TCU is competing at Medinah for the second time in as many years. The team carded a four-under-par 860 to tie for 11th place last fall. Lois Lau was the Horned Frogs' top performer at the tournament in 2022. The senior tied for 35th at minus-five (215).
Lau has been a fixture near the top of individual leaderboards all fall. She has finished even or under par in each of her six rounds and posted two top-30 finishes. The France native most recently tied for seventh (-7, 204) at the Schooner Fall Classic on Sept. 25. Lau ranks third in program history for career birdies.
TCU is leaving its lineup unaltered from its first pair of tournaments. Joining Lau in the Windy City are Sofia Barroso Sa, Meagan Winans, Sofie Dimitrova and Sheridan Clancy. Barroso Sa finished one-under-par at Medinah as a freshman in 2022.
THE COURSE – Medinah Country Club – Par 72 – 6,166 Yards
First opened in 1925 by a group of Shriners, Medinah Country Club has served the golf community as one of the most historic, private, country clubs. Located just 25 miles west of Chicago, Medinah offers three different championship golf courses, ones that have hosted the Ryder Cup, U.S. Open and PGA Championship. The No. 2 course was reopened in 2017, restored back to its original look and design.
