Is the fourth Horned Frog in program history to receive the accolade
IRVING, Texas – Add another accolade to an already robust awards mantlepiece for Sedona Prince.

The 6-7 forward was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team following a vote of the conference head coaches.

Prince was an honorable mention selection and one of just 19 players to receive Preseason All-Big 12 recognition.

The honor marks the fourth preseason all-conference accolade Prince has received. She claimed three consecutive Preseason All-Pac-12 Team citations at Oregon from 2020-2022.

Prince is the fourth Horned Frog to garner Preseason All-Big 12 laurels and the first player since Lauren Heard in 2021-22 to receive the recognition.

A Liberty Hill, Texas, native, Prince is set to end her collegiate career where it all began.

She signed with Big 12 rival Texas as the No. 8 overall prospect in the class of 2018 but never took the hardwood for the Longhorns. Prince was shelved for the entire 2018-19 season after suffering a broken leg while competing for the USA U18 national team at the FIBA Americas Championship. Prince was then denied immediate eligibility by the NCAA in 2019-20 following her transfer to Oregon.

Prince promptly proved herself as being among the nation's most talented post players over her two years on the court in Eugene, where she teamed up with TCU head coach Mark Campbell during his tenure as the Ducks' associate head coach.

She averaged 9.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game across 50 appearances in green and yellow from 2020-2022. Prince got the starting nod in 28 outings and piloted Oregon to the NCAA Tournament in both seasons.

Prince appeared in 19-of-24 contests and earned 10 starts over her first full college season in 2020-21. She led the Ducks in total blocks (29) while ranking third on the squad in points per game (10.4) and rebounds per game (4.0). With Prince anchoring Oregon's frontcourt, the Ducks advanced to their fourth consecutive Sweet 16. Prince was undoubtedly the catalyst behind Oregon's march to the second weekend of the Big Dance. She poured in a game-high 22 points along with five rebounds and four blocks in the Ducks' round of 32 victory over No. 10 Georgia.

The 2021-22 season saw Prince find new ways to elevate her game. Prince led Oregon and finished fourth in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage (.542) while reeling in a career-high five rebounds per night. She connected at-or-above a 50 percent clip from the field in 20 games and delivered 16 double digit scoring efforts.

A twist of fate led Prince home to the Lone Star State ahead of the 2023-24 season. Her amateur career appeared over after she suffered a torn ligament in her elbow in 2022 that required season-ending surgery. Prince subsequently entered her name in the 2023 WNBA Draft but withdrew in the days following Campbell's hire as the seventh head women's basketball coach in TCU Athletics history. Prince gave a verbal commitment to play for the Horned Frogs on Apr. 8, just two days before draft night.
