Horned Frogs have NCAA-leading five athletes in action
FORT WORTH – TCU has a quintet of chances to claim one of college tennis' most competitive prizes.
The Horned Frogs are sending an NCAA-leading five athletes to San Diego for the ITA National Fall Championships on Nov. 1-5 at the Barnes Tennis Center. TCU was also the only program to qualify two doubles teams.
Vives, No. 82 in the ITA singles rankings, was also an automatic singles qualifier on the strength of his Regional runner-up finish. He'll be joined by TCU's highest-ranked singles player in No. 26 Jack Pinnington, who received one of just two wild cards into the 32-player bracket.
Maxted and Vives are making their second career doubles appearances at the grand finale of fall tennis.
Maxted and Sander Jong finished as the National Fall runner-up in 2022. They became the first doubles tandem in school history to reach the final.
Vives and Maxted partnered in 2021. The duo advanced to the semifinals behind a trio of straight set victories.
The singles selections of Pinnington and Vives marked the first time TCU has qualified multiple players under the tournament's current structure. The ITA National Fall Championships is in its seventh year of existence, having replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in 2017.
TCU claimed the fifth-ever national fall singles championship. David Pate hoisted the chalice in 1982. The Horned Frogs last sent an athlete to the finale when Paul Robinson finished as a finalist in two straight seasons from 1994-1995.

Tournament Structure
All matches will be scored as best-of-three full tiebreak sets. A 10-point match tiebreak will be played in lieu of a third set in doubles.
Each competitor is guaranteed two matches. A 16-man consolation draw for singles and doubles begins on Thursday.

Competing for TCU
Pedro Vives: Vives owns the fourth-highest universal tennis rating (UTR) among all collegians at 14.11. The Spaniard has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the college tennis ranks this fall. Vives has notched five ITA top-40 wins since September. He ousted No. 16 Pierre-Yves Bailly (Texas) in straight sets in the ITA Texas Regional quarterfinals before sending off Baylor's 38th-ranked Tadeas Paroulek to punch his ticket to San Diego. Vives won the Fort Worth PFT 25k on Sept. 9 at the expense of Pinnington, then promptly defeated No. 9 Inaki Montes-De La Torre of Virginia and No. 11 Cannon Kingsley of Ohio State during qualifying at the ATP Cary Challenger. His wins over Pinnington, Montes-De La Torre and Kingsley ignited the second-half of a nine-match professional winning streak. The junior has won four professional titles since June.
Jack Pinnington: The sophomore was duly rewarded with a singles wild card. His fall singles record stands at 8-2, with seven of his wins coming in straight sets and three at the expense of ranked opponents. The sophomore reached the semifinals of the Battle in the Bay Classic on Sept. 23 and advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA All-American Championships two weeks later in Tulsa. Pinnington's exits from the ITA All-American Championships and ITA Texas Regional came with asterisks. Illness forced him to withdraw in Oklahoma. He led No. 45 Jonah Braswell of Texas 6-2, 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the ITA Texas Regional and was serving for the match before sustaining a sprained ankle that rendered him compromised
Sebastian Gorzny: He and Vives are 26-9 all-time in doubles as they begin their second season as partners. Gorzny, entering his sophomore season, has been among TCU's most consistent performers since his arrival in August 2022. He holds a 16-6 combined career record in fall invitationals and is 57-16 all-time. Gorzny reached the singles quarterfinals of both the ITA Texas Regional and Battle in the Bay Classic while picking up a victory in singles and doubles at the ITA All-American Championships. He collected the highest-ranked singles win of any Horned Frog this fall when he downed No. 11 Karlis Ozolins of Illinois, 6-2, 6-1, to begin the ITA All-American Championships main draw.
Duncan Chan and Lui Maxted: Chan and Maxted are newly-minted partners but look the part of a veteran pair. They are 9-4 this fall and played their way through qualifying and onto the ITA All-American Championships main draw in October. Chan, a freshman from Markham, Ontario, has entered the winner's circle 12 times over the last two months. Nine of his wins have been in doubles. Maxted leads TCU in cumulative wins this fall (14) and is 43-17 for his career in doubles. His fall doubles record stands at 22-9.

- TCU won a Lone Star State-leading 31 matches at the ITA Texas Regional. The Horned Frogs were 28-7 in main draw tilts.
- TCU produced a 12-6 combined record at the ITA All-American Championships.
- The Horned Frogs have pocketed 57 wins through four-of-five team-sponsored fall tournaments.
- TCU tied with Texas for the second-best World Tennis Number (WTN) among all Division I programs at 3.6. Only Ohio State (3.5) boasts a better WTN.
- TCU is the only program nationwide to have garnered nine consecutive top-10 ITA end-of-season team rankings. The Horned Frogs concluded the 2022-23 season ranked fourth. The No. 4 ranking marked the program's second-best end-of-season finish.
- The Horned Frogs became one of six programs in the history of college tennis to repeat as ITA Indoor National Champions in February.
- The Horned Frogs have advanced to the Elite Eight in the NCAA D1 Men's Tennis Championship in four straight seasons. TCU has reached the quarterfinals six times in the last eight years. No program nationwide has notched more quarterfinal berths than TCU since 2015.
- TCU received a program record 11 postseason All-Big 12 Conference honors in 2022-23.
- Roditi repeated as Big 12 Coach of the Year last spring. The honor, as voted on by his conference head coaching peers, marked his fifth conference coach of the year citation. His five selections are the most received by any Big 12 head coach since the conference's inception in 19997.
- TCU has claimed five of the last eight Big 12 regular season championships and won the conference tournament three times (2016, 2017, 2023) in that span.
- The Horned Frogs amassed a combined 468 ATP points from June-August.
