
TCU Drops Match to UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. — TCU dropped its first match of the week against UCF, 3-1, on Thursday night at The Venue at UCF.
Audrey Nalls led TCU with 23 kills at an incredible .478 clip. It's the second match in the past three that Nalls has had at least 20 kills and hit over .475.
The Rundown
TCU started strong as Audrey Nalls landed her first kill of the night to give TCU a 1-0 lead. Despite UCF tying the match at 6-all, a kill from Julia Adams put TCU up 7-6, a lead that the Frogs would never give up the rest of the set.
The Frogs continued to control momentum as another kill by Adams put TCU up 18-15 and forced a UCF timeout. Jalyn Gibson landed an ace and Nalls nailed a kill right out of the timeout to give TCU its biggest lead of the set at 20-15. The Frogs cruised through the remainder of the set and a final kill from Nalls gave TCU the 25-19 set win.
TCU held UCF to a .061 hitting percentage in the first set while Adams had a team-leading five kills.
Trailing 8-3 to start the second set, the Frogs went on a 5-0 scoring run to tie the match, highlighted by kills from Brianna Green and Nalls and a service ace from Taylor Raiola. Despite UCF taking the lead, TCU kept the set close and a Knight error pulled the Frogs within one point at 18-17.
A kill from Nalls tied the set up at 21-all, but the Knights outscored the Frogs 4-1 to win the set 25-22.
The Knights took a quick 10-4 lead to open the third set. One of Nalls' six kills in the third set cut the lead to 10-5, but UCF continued to lead by at least five points for most of the set. A Knight service error made it a 21-18 contest, but UCF controlled the rest of the set en route to a 25-19 third set win.
TCU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third set and a kill from Green forced a UCF timeout at 7-3. The Frogs continued to lead in the fourth set until UCF tied the set up at 13-13. The Knights outscored TCU 12-3 to win the set and the match.
