
Gibson’s Career Night Leads TCU Over UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – Jalyn Gibson's career night powered TCU to a 3-1 win over UCF on Friday night at The Venue at UCF.
Gibson landed a career-best 23 kills and hit .405 on the night to lead the Horned Frogs over the Knights. Audrey Nalls (12) and Taylor Raiola (10) tallied double-digit kills as well.
The Rundown
TCU's offense shined in the first set as the Frogs hit .474 in the opening frame. Jalyn Gibson landed her first kill of the night to make it a 1-1 contest and another Gibson kill gave TCU a 4-2 lead.
Lily Nicholson landed one of TCU's four aces in the first set to make it a 13-7 lead and forced a UCF timeout. TCU scored three straight points out of the timeout and Sarah Sylvester's first kill of the night extended the lead to 17-8. TCU continued to cruise through the first set and a kill from Gibson clinched the 25-12 set win for the Frogs.
A kill from Taylor Raiola gave TCU its first lead of the second set at 3-2. Leading 6-5, the Frogs went on a 3-0 scoring run to take a 9-5 lead and force a UCF timeout. TCU continued to lead the rest of the set and a kill from Brianna Green gave the Frogs its biggest lead of the set at 17-12.
UCF began to close the gap and made it a one-point set at 23-22, but kills from Green and Nalls secured the set win for TCU and put them up 2-0 in the match.
Despite trailing most of the third set, TCU climbed back and tied the set at 19-19. The Frogs continued to battle and tied the match seven times in the final points before ultimately falling to UCF 29-27.
Back-to-back aces from Gibson gave TCU a 7-3 lead in the fourth set. The Knights made it a two-point set at 9-7, but kills from Gibson and Nalls put TCU up 13-7. The Knights made it a close contest and pulled themselves within three points, but the Frogs capped the match off with a 7-3 scoring run to win set 25-18.
Gibson led the way for the Frogs with 23 kills at a .405 hitting percentage. Audrey Nalls added 12 kills and Taylor Raiola tallied 10 as well.
