TCU sits second nationally in aggregate average
FORT WORTH – The No. 2-ranked TCU women's rifle team returns to the range on Saturday as they travel to Colorado to take on No. 7 Air Force. TCU currently sits second nationally in aggregate average.
The Horned Frogs have fired two of the top five aggregate scores this season and their season average of 4,736.0 ranks second nationally. TCU leads the nation with a 2383.0 average in air rifle and sits second in smallbore with a 2,353.0 average.
Individually, TCU is the only program with two shooters ranked in the top five in aggregate average. Stephanie Grundsoee is tied with Kentucky's Sofia Ceccarello for the national lead in aggregate average at 1,190. Katie Zaun is tied for third nationally with a season average of 1,189.
In air rifle, TCU shooters have fired three of the top four marks in the NCAA this season. Zaun (598.5) and Grundsoee (598.0) sit second and third, respectively in season average, while Stephanie Allan rounds out the top five with a 597 average. Anne White sits ninth with a 596.5 average.
Grundsoee owns the third-highest individual performance in smallbore this season and ranks second nationally in season average at 592. Zaun ranks sixth nationally with a 590.5 average.
Air Force has fired two matches this season and owns a season aggregate average of 4,720.5 which is fifth in the NCAA. The Falcons boast a 2,378.5 air rifle season average and a 2,342.0 smallbore average. Both marks are Top 10 in the nation. Air Force is led by the duo of Scott Rockett and Lauren Hurley. Rockett is the top air rifle shooter on the squad with a season average of 597.5, while Hurley paces the squad with a 587 smallbore average.
The match, which is slated to begin at 10 a.m. (CT), will feature one relay each of smallbore and air rifle.
