Horned Frogs head south to take on the best of Texas
FORT WORTH – TCU women's tennis is sending the entirety of its seven-player roster south to Waco for the ITA Texas Regional Championship on Oct. 12-16 at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The field features 117 singles competitors and 56 doubles pairs. Doubles play begins at 4 p.m. on Thursday, with singles set to follow on Friday.
TCU compiled 19 singles victories across 25 matches at the 2022 ITA Texas Regional Helena Narmont advanced to the quarterfinals behind a trio of wins. Jade Otway led TCU in overall victories (five). In doubles, In doubles, Yu-Chin Tsai and Margaret Polk gathered the team-leading four victories as partners.
The Frogs are coming off an impressive showing at the SMU Invitational, highlighted by a 3-0 showing in doubles by first-time partners Raquel Caballero and Otway. Destinee Martins, Tsai, Caballero, and Narmont all finished with 2-1 marks in singles.
Narmont opened the tournament with a tiebreak win over Millie Skleton of SMU (3-6, 6-1, 10-8) and cruised by her Kansas opponent in the second round, 6-2, 6-2.
Tsai leads the team in singles wins this fall (three). She began her stay in Dallas with an opening round win over Anet Koskel of Arkansas. She notched a come-from-behind tiebreak triumph via a 3-6, 7-6, [11-9]. After falling on the second day, she came back and defeated her Washington opponent 6-3, 6-4.
