TCU faces Texas Tech at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the championship match
FORT WORTH – The Horned Frogs are one win away from earning the right to defend their 2022 ITA Indoor National Championship.
No. 3 TCU swept Gonzaga 4-0 in the opening round of ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday inside the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
With the win, the top-seeded Horned Frogs (4-0) punched their ticket to the TCU Regional final. TCU will play No. 3 seed Texas Tech at 2 p.m. on Sunday for the right to advance to the ITA Indoor National Championships, held from Feb. 17-20 in Chicago. The Red Raiders knocked off No. 2 seed Utah 4-3 in the first-of-two contests on Saturday. The match spanned four-and-a-half hours and came down to the No. 6 singles court.
"That was an exciting start to our Indoor National Championship run," head coach David Roditi said. "It's awesome to be able to host again for the eighth year in a row. I was proud of the way our guys handled an hour-and-a-half delay due to our five-court situation, with Texas Tech and Utah going the distance. I felt like we got off to a really good start in doubles. We won every break point and never looked back from there. Now, we get ready to battle Texas Tech, who had a great win today. They'll be fired up, but so will we. Go Frogs."
TCU claimed the doubles point with comfortable victories on courts one and three. The Horned Frogs then clinched the match with singles sweeps in the first, third and fourth flights. The dual was contested as a clinch match, meaning once the result of the match was decided, all remaining singles contests were left unfinished.
TCU won its 11th consecutive ITA Kickoff Weekend match with the result. The Horned Frogs also extended their program-record indoor winning streak to 16.
Should TCU defeat Texas Tech, the program will garner its sixth straight ITA Indoor National Championships berth and 20th in program history.
Doubles Rundown

The Horned Frogs left their doubles lineup unaltered. Sander Jong and Lui Maxted, the No. 4 ITA doubles pairing, got the nod on court one. The All-American duo of Jake Fearnley and Luc Fomba anchored the No. 2 flight. Sebastian Gorzny and Pedro Vives rounded out the TCU trifecta in the No. 3 position.

Gorzny and Vives secured the doubles point for the second straight match. They raced out to a 5-1 advantage over Gonzaga's Oliver Andersson and Pablo Gomez before closing the show at 6-3.
Fearnley and Fomba led 5-2 over Arthus de la Bassetiere and Leon Roider and were serving for set point prior to play being paused.
