Horned Frogs can't hold on to 18-point lead in second-straight loss
AUSTIN, Texas - No. 17 TCU was not able to hold an 18-point lead in a 79-75 loss at No. 10 Texas Wednesday at Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
The Horned Frogs (13-3, 2-2) built a 40-22 lead with 2:57 to play in the first half. TCU outrebounded Texas (14-2, 3-1) by five and led 42-29 at halftime.
The rebounding effort changed in the second half with the Longhorns holding the advantage by seven and forced the Frogs into eight turnovers compared to just three by UT.
TCU held the advantage for 33-straight minutes before Texas took the lead on a 3-pointer by Marcus Carr to put the Longhorns ahead 76-73 with 1:01 remaining. Emanuel Miller, who led all players with 21 points, responded with a layup and was fouled on the play. Attempting to tie the game, Miller missed the free throw.
After an offensive rebound, Sir'jabari Rice made two free throws to give the Longhorns a 78-75 lead with 6.1 to play. Mike Miles Jr., who finished with 16 points, was fouled on the other end and missed the front end of a 1-and-1 opportunity.
Damion Baugh had a season-high 10 assist to go with nine points and five rebounds as the Frogs dropped their second-straight game.
TCU returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. against No. 11 Kansas State. It will be its fourth-straight game against a Top 25 team.
