
Frogs Face Georgia in First Round

No. 4 TCU set to take on No. 5 Georgia in the first round of NCEA Nationals
OCALA, Fla. – The No. 4 TCU equestrian team is set for the 2022 postseason, as the Horned Frogs take on No. 5 Georgia in the first round of the NCEA National Championship. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. (CDT) on Thursday, April 14, at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Georgia (9-5, 2-4 SEC) finished third in the SEC falling to Auburn, 12-7, in the first round of the SEC Championship, which the Tigers hosted. On day two, the Bulldogs took down South Carolina, 12-7, to finish third best in the Conference tournament. Georgia had eight riders named to the 2022 NCEA All-American teams led by first team Flat All-American Jordan Toering. Toering was named to the second team in Fences including second team Fences All-American Hayley Mairano and honorable mention Fences All-American Rachel McMullen to round out a strong Jumping Seat team.
Caitlin Lyons, Jax Bound, Sara Lewis and Jillian Stopperich lead the Western corps for the Bulldogs. Lyons and Bound were named All-SEC Reining riders while Lewis and Stopperich took the honors in Horsemanship.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
The Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 12-4. The last meeting between the two teams was last season in what was the season finale, the Horned Frogs fell to UGA 10-6 in the first round of the NCEA National Championship. When facing off at the National Championship, the Frogs and Bulldogs split the all-time series 1-1.
CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The Frogs enter the National Championship as the four seed for the first time in program history. This is the highest seed in program history that TCU enters the tournament. The second highest seed the Frogs entered as is the No. 6 slot last season (2020-21) where the frogs fell to Georgia, 10-6, in the first round.
