
TCU Advances to NCEA Semifinals

No. 4 Frogs down No. 5 Georgia, 12-8, in Quarterfinal
OCALA, FLA. – The No. 4 ranked TCU equestrian team rode their way to victory over reigning National Champions Georgia, 12-8, Thursday afternoon at World Equestrian Center. TCU advanced to the NCEA National Championship Semifinal and will face Big 12 foe, No. 1 Oklahoma State four the fourth time this season, tomorrow at 2 p.m.

"We are thrilled with the result, this is totally what we came for," Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. "We are so proud of our athletes for persevering and bringing the energy up after we started a little bit slower than we would have liked to. They decided that was not the result they wanted to take and took it from there."
THE RUNDOWN
TCU (12-6) started the day slow dropping both events in the first half. The Bulldogs claimed Fences, 3-2 with points coming from Ashleigh Scully on Vivaldi carding a 239 and Raegan Rast who took down her Georgia opponent 243-188 on Oakley.
On the Western side, the Horsemanship squad fell to the Bulldogs, 3-2 in a tight race. Mattie Dukes claimed the first point in the event for the Horned Frogs, 221-199 on Austin. Payton Boutelle edged her opponent 223.5-214.5 on Snip. Putting Georgia up 6-4 going into the half.
After the break, TCU and Georgia resumed action in Flat. Sydney Berube rode her way to a 238-223.5 win on Rosie over Georgia's Jordan Toering. Wynne Weatherly followed suit with a large margin of victory over her opponent 214.5-176 on Ducati. Jacey Albaugh and Laurel Smith came through in the three and four positions carding a 244 and 224.5 respectively.
Heading into the final event of the afternoon TCU led Georgia by one, 8-7. As it has many times this season, it all came down to the Reining squad to take down the 2021 National Champions. Shea Graham started off the event with a 213 ride on Ben. Maddy Buchanan narrowly edged her opponent 205.5-204 on Colonel. Jessica McAllister then clinched the win for the Horned Frogs with a dominant ride on Dually carding a 213. Mattie Dukes finished off the day for the Frogs in style taking her opponent down 212-210.5 on Little Bear.
UP NEXT
No. 4-seeded TCU will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when it faces the one seed, Oklahoma State, in the NCEA National Championship Semifinal. Action is slated to begin at 2:00 in the afternoon at World Equestrian Center and will be streamed on Horse & Country.
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
Oklahoma State (13-2) will take on TCU after a tough matchup against Fresno State in the NCEA National Championship Quarterfinal on Thursday. The Cowgirls defeated the Bulldogs, 12-8. The meet was close in the first half as Oklahoma State won Fences, 4-1 while Fresno State took Horsemanship, 4-1. The Cowgirls flipped the switch in the second half and won Flat 3-2 and dominate in Reining 4-1.
The Horned Frogs fell to the Cowgirls in their last matchup in the Big 12 Championship on March 26 at Diamond Creek Ranch, 11-9. Oklahoma State claims the all-time series 24-12 as well as the neutral sight margin 6-4
