FROG FOCUS
TCU is looking to bounce back after suffering its second loss of the season in its last outing, vs. No. 18 Michigan. The Horned Frogs are hoping for their first victory since being named unanimous No. 1 across both the USTA/Tennis Channel and ITA polls for the first time in program history earlier this week.
Junior Sander Jong leads the Frogs with 19 overall wins this season (9-4 singles, 10-1 doubles). He and his partner, Lui Maxted, delivered their third ranked win of the season last match, defeating Michigan's No. 14-ranked Fenty / Ehrenschneider in TCU's only doubles win of the match. Jong/Maxted are 3-0 against ranked opponents this season.
Sophomore Jake Fearnley enters the dual as the team-leader for winning percentage in singles, winning 81.8 percent of his matches (9-2). He is ranked No. 23 in singles, the best of his career, joining Luc Fomba (No. 14) and Juan Carlos Aguilar (No. 16) as the only Horned Frog trio to ever be ranked in the national Top 25 in the same poll.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Illinois enters the weekend with a 3-6 record after taking down No. 22 North Carolina, 4-2, in its last match. The Illini will battle No. 4 Baylor on Friday night before taking on UIC (Illinois–Chicago) on Saturday as the first match of a double-header, ending with their match against TCU.
TCU leads the all-time series with Illinois, 9-5. TCU won the last match, 4-0, on the purple courts back in 2019. The Horned Frogs are 6-2 against Illinois throughout the David Roditi era.
