Frogs fall to Mountaineers in first round on Thursday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The TCU Horned Frogs saw its 2021-22 season come to an end on Thursday, falling 68-48 to West Virginia in the first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Championship at Kansas City Municipal Auditorium.
Senior Okako Adika led TCU with 17 points, going 6-for-10 from the field, 2-of-3 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the free throw line.
THE RUNDOWN
TCU was held to a first half season-low 11 points and trailed 34-11 at the break. WVU led by as many as 27 points early in the third quarter, but the Horned Frogs managed to outscore the Mountaineers 16-11 the rest of the quarter. TCU opened the fourth quarter with an 11-2 run, cutting the deficit to just 13 points, but WVU countered back with a 12-2 run to put the game out of reach.
