TCU prepares for Top-20 dual against Mississippi
FORT WORTH -- No. 4 TCU men's tennis (6-1) is hosting its fourth Top 25 dual of the season, this Friday at 6 p.m. against No. 17 Mississippi State at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. TCU is 2-1 in ranked matchups this season, defeating No. 5 Florida and No. 15 Ole Miss already on the purple courts.
The match will be played indoors. Attendance is free. Mi Cocina will provide food for fans in attendance along with pizza, while supplies last, courtesy of Buffalo Bros.

TCU enters the weekend ranked in the Top 5 for the fifth consecutive week, including the last three at No. 4. The Horned Frogs had five singles athletes and two doubles teams ranked in the most recent poll.
TCU's freshman duo of Lui Maxted and Pedro Vives come in as the No. 3 ranked doubles team in the nation while Maxted and Sander Jong come in at No. 20. These rankings reflect one of the best doubles starts in program history as the Frogs have begun the 2022 campaign winning its first seven doubles points, the best since 2008.
The five ranked singles players are headlined by No. 15 Juan Carlos Aguilar, he is followed by No. 44 Luc Fomba, No. 52 Jake Fearnley, No. 69 Lui Maxted and No. 109 Sander Jong. Jong leads the Horned Frogs with five singles wins this season, playing at No. 2 and No. 3. Jong has won four singles matches in a row and seven overall matches in a row, counting doubles.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Mississippi State enters the dual with a 7-1 record. The Bulldogs lone blemish on the schedule came in the ITA Kickoff championship match against SEC foe, No. 11 Kentucky, 4-2. This will be their second match against a ranked opponent, along with UK.
This will be the first meeting between MSU and TCU in Fort Worth and the eighth all-time meeting between the two schools. TCU leads the series, 5-2, including its current three match winning streak since 2019. TCU defeated Mississippi State twice in 2019 (once at Indoor Nationals and again in the R16 of the NCAA Tournament) before defeating the Bulldogs in Starkville, Miss. last season, 4-1.
