
Rifle Set To Host UTEP For Two Matches

Matches are final two of the fall season
FORT WORTH – The No. 2 TCU women's rifle team will close out the fall season with a pair of home matches against UTEP. Both matches will start at 9 a.m. and will take place at the TCU Rifle Range.
The Horned Frogs have finished first in all five matches they have shot this season. Additionally, TCU has fired the top smallbore score in all five matches. In four of five matches, TCU has turned in the best air rifle score.
TCU currently sits second nationally in aggregate average at 4,741. The Frogs boast the top air rifle season average at 2,385.6, five points higher than West Virginia. In smallbore, TCU sits second nationally at 2,355.8.
Stephanie Grundsoee leads the nation in aggregate average (1,190.3) followed closely by her teammate, Julie Johannessen (1,190.0). Additionally, Abigail Gordon sits sixth nationally with a season average of 1,186.25.
The Frogs boast five of the top 12 air rifle shooters in the country. Grundsoee sits third nationally with an average of 597.3. Johannessen and Kristen Hemphill are fifth and sixth, respectively, with season averages of 597.25 and 597. Katie Zaun, who will miss the match due to her participation in the CAT Championships in Lima, Peru, sits ninth nationally (596.0).
Grundsoee (593.0) and Johannessen (592.75) lead the nation in smallbore. Gordon also sits fifth nationally at 591.
UTEP averages a team aggregate of 4,565 (2,253 smallbore; 2,312 air rifle). In both discipliens, the Miners are led by Jonna Warnken (569.4 smallbore; 582.2 air rifle).
