Horned Frogs improve to 2-0 to start the season
FORT WORTH – Mike Miles Jr. scored a game-high 26 points to lead the TCU men's basketball team to a 77-66 victory over Lamar Friday night at Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs (2-0) led nearly the entire game, but was kept close by a stingy Cardinals (1-1) team. Miles was 7-of-13 from the field, including three 3-pointers and took all 14 of TCU's free throws and made nine.
TCU ended the first half with its largest lead of nine coming at the end of the period following a pair of free throws by Miles. The Frogs led 36-27 at the break.
TCU's lead grew to 13 points, 43-30, after a 3-pointer by Miles two minutes into the period. The Cardinals went on a 17-5 run to cut the Frogs lead to one-point, 48-47, with 13:14 to play. Lamar never took the lead as TCU pulled away, leading as many as 14 in the final minutes.
Shahada Wells has his best game as a Horned Frog with 10 points with two made threes and tied a team high with six assists. Emanuel Miller had a well-rounded game with 12 points, seven rebounds and a career-high six assists.
TCU will continue its four-game homestand on Monday at 7 p.m. against Northwestern State. The game will be shown on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

- Mike Miles attempted all 14 free throws and made nine. The 14 free throw attempts were the most in his career
- Eddie Lampkin Jr. had a team-high nine rebounds. It was the 13th time in his career he led the Frogs on the boards.
- Shahada Wells scored 10 points. It's the most he's had as a Horned Frog
- Emanuel Miller had a career-high six assist. It was his first time leading the Frogs in assists. Wells also had a game-high six assists.
- Chuck O'Bannon had a career-high three blocks.
- Freshman PJ Hagerty made his collegiate debut.
