Rifle Sweeps Weekend Set Against Ohio State

Team matched program’s second-best air rifle score
FORT WORTH – The TCU women's rifle team fired an aggregate score of 4,716 to defeat Ohio State for the second day in a row. The Horned Frogs fired a smallbore score of 2,330 and matched the program's second-best air rifle score of 2,386. Ohio State finished with a 2,322 in smallbore and 2,365 in air rifle for a final score of 4,687.
TCU fired six of the top 10 scores in smallbore. Stephanie Grundsoee led the team and the field of competitors with a 587. Nina Schuett and Kristen Hemphill both placed in the top five with scores of 583 and 582, respectively. Also contributing to the team's score was Stephanie Allan with a 578 to place sixth. Abigail Gordon served as a counter in the match, firing a 577 to finish tenth. Anne White fired a 576, but did not serve as a counter in smallbore. In the second relay, Grace Taschuk and Noelle Christensen fired a 575 and 578, respectively.
The Frogs produced six of the top 10 shooters in air rifle. Grundsoee led the team and the discipline with her 598. White fired a career high 598 to finish second. Allan fired a 597 for the second consecutive day, matching her career high, to finish third. Hemphill and Gordon served as counters in the discipline firing a 593 and 592, respectively. While not contributing to the team's score, Schuett fired a 590 to place her ninth in air rifle.
Also shooting were Taschuk (589) and Christensen (571). Gianna Yokoe broke her air rifle career-high record for the second day in a row, firing a 578. Taylor Haffner also improved her score from yesterday with her 577.
Overall, the team had six of the top 10 individual shooters. Grundsoee finished first overall with her aggregate of 1,185. Allan, who finished third, and Hemphill, who finished fourth, both ended with a 1,175 aggregate. White finished with a career-high aggregate of 1,174 to place sixth in the match. Schuett placed seventh (1,173) and Gordon placed eighth (1,169). Taschuk rounded out the Frogs' shooters in tenth place with her 1,164.
The Frogs will travel to Ohio State to compete next Saturday, Jan. 22 in Columbus, Ohio.
