Top teams on display at Colonial starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday
FORT WORTH – TCU and Colonial Country Club will host one of the top tournaments in the country, the Colonial Collegiate Invitational, beginning Monday.
TCU will go with the lineup junior Jacob Skov Olesen, junior Gustav Frimodt, junior Aymeric Laussot, senior Jan Schneider and senior Justin Gums.
The 15-team field includes four teams currently ranked in the top 10, eight teams ranked in the top 25, 11 teams that made the NCAA Championships last season and each of the last five national champions including Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Pepperdine which were in the semifinals of last season's match play at the NCAA Championships.
Also included are four of the top seven in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, nine of the top 14 in the PGA TOUR University rankings and seven participants in the 2021 Walker Cup.
The tournament consists of 36 holes on Monday beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday's 18-hole round will begin at 8 a.m. off of holes No. 1 and No. 10.
Spectators are welcome and admission is free.

THE COURSE – Par 70 | 7,204 yards
Colonial Country Club has hosted an annual PGA Tour event since 1946, the longest running non-major tour event to be held at the same venue. The club was started in 1936 and hosted the 1941 U.S. Open, the 1975 Tournament Players Championship and the 1991 U.S. Women's Open. The course sits along the bank of the Trinity River and is located less than a mile from the campus of TCU.
LAST TIME OUT
Justin Gums' seventh-place finish led TCU at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational on Sept. 15 in nearby Carrollton, Texas. Gums made seven birdies and shot a career-low 6-under 66 in the final round to finish at even-par 216. The Horned Frogs finished 11th as a team.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
- TCU finished tied for fourth out of 10 teams last season. The tournament was the first college golf tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 season in March. The CCI consisted of only Big 12 Conference teams.
- Aymeric Laussot finished 2-over 212 to lead the Frogs with a ninth-place finish. He shot 4-under 66 in the final round.
TEAM/PROGRAM NOTES
- Having already played in two very competitive tournaments, the Carmel Cup and the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational, TCU's strength of schedule is currently ranked as the 10th strongest in the nation by Bushnell/Golfweek.
- TCU lost three from last year's team and welcome newcomers Ethan Dial, Brent Hamm (Troy) and Jan Schneider (Washington).
- Among the 10 returners are four that played in TCU's postseason run last spring. Jacob Skov Olesen led TCU a team-high four times and was on the PING All-Central Region Team. Gustav Frimodt was Academic All-Big 12 and had 10 rounds of par or better. Aymeric Laussot had eight rounds of par or better. TCU's top finisher at the Big 12 Championship was Filippo Celli who led the Frogs with an average score of 71.77 last season. He won't be available in the fall, but will join the team in the spring.
- TCU has qualified for four of the last six and eight of the last 12 NCAA Championships. TCU has advanced to 18 of the past 31 NCAA Championships since 1991.
- TCU is one of nine programs to finish in the top 20 of the NCAA Championships in five of the last eight seasons. Those programs are Arizona State, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU and Vanderbilt.
- TCU is one of 15 schools to play in the last two NCAA Championships.
- TCU and Clemson are the only two programs to make the last 31 NCAA Regionals with the same head coach. Last season was Clemson head coach Larry Penley's 38th and final season at the school.
- Bill Montigel is in his 42nd season at TCU and his 35th season as the head coach of TCU men's golf. Associate Head Coach Adrien Mork is in his fifth season at TCU.
